The Old Town Soap Company

The Old Town Soap Company (TOTSC) is a Black Owned, Woman Owned, and Veteran Owned & Operated Personal Care and Wellness brand founded in 2012 by Ernestine Brown. She originally used the art of Soapmaking as a form of mental therapy while serving on active duty in the United States Navy. Upon realizing its powerful effects along with the many benefits of her all-natural products, she was eager to help others and began selling them at various Festivals and Farmer's Markets. Ernestine now leads a successful brick-and-mortar retail store operation at historic Liberty Public Market in San Diego, California where she educates consumers on the connection between all-natural ingredients and mental health. She also hosts live events such as "Soapmaking for Therapy" workshops where participants experience the therapeutic benefits of soapmaking using their own curated recipes. Ernestine takes great pride in training and mentoring her team members who are also aspiring Entrepreneurs and believes that despite the lonely journey at times, Entrepreneurship is very much a team sport. A few of The Old Town Soap Company's values include transparency, trust, and teamwork (TTT) which she believes is one of the many ways to build a successful company and community. Ernestine also gladly shares her business experience and mentorship with the public by providing assistance and resources to her local community. When not at The Old Town Soap Company, Ernestine enjoys spending quality time at home with her son and daughter Marcus and Deziree who are budding Creative Entrepreneurs (@aphasetv and @d3ziree.jpg, respectively) with a focus on Graphic Design and Photography. She also loves spending time with her three dogs Rocket, Maple, and Molasses as well as other loved ones. In the years to come, Ernestine hopes to continue expanding her footprint on the sands of time while inspiring humanity through her life's purpose.
